1. Black Material stretched onto canvas

materials. Canvas frame, black denim, water, acrylic paint

aboutTorn black denim stained in water and black acrylic paint. Stretched partly over the canvas frame. Staining process feels similar to when they were worn.

2. Material

materials. White handkerchief, ink, water, acrylic, glue

aboutWhite handkerchief used to wipe up materials used in my studio practice such as: black paint, ink, water, glue pinned to the denim. Mirroring the way he would wipe materials away in his garage space.

3. Stained Canvas Material

materials. Strip of raw canvas, acrylics, warm water, cornflour

presentedStuck to the denim (1) and over the stained material (2) and left ot hang in the grouping.

aboutStrip of raw canvas torn and soaked in a solution of beige and brown acrylic paints, warm water and cornflour. Cornflour stains the canvas and cracks in places when dried. 

4. Grey Material

materials. Grey rag material, black and white acrylic paint, comb

aboutGrey rag (used in my grandfathers garage to wipe up marks) material with black and white paint rolled on and pressed through with a comb. Piece is reversed so the abstract marks sit facing the viewer.

5. Acrylic marks on paper

6. 35mm colour slide

7. Grey Material presented on MDF wood

materials. Grey rag material, white and black acrylic, PVA and super glue

presentedMaterial scrunched up and stuck to MDF wood- attached to the group.

8. Torn Canvas material

1. Canvas

materials. Ink on tracing paper, canvas, water and PVA glue 

presentedUnframed: Stuck to wall with tape

aboutInk abstract image on tracing paper. This was left to dry and soaked with water and rolled onto the canvas. Tracing paper is peeled away revealing the abstract marks made.

2. Sliced Canvas

materials. Canvas, acetate print, acrylic paint, bleach

aboutOld acetate print on canvas bleached and over painted with beige acrylic paint. When dry partially sliced down the middle.

3. MDF chipboard with Photo

materials. MDF Chipboard, watered down acrylic, chalk and Polaroid Photo

1. Tracing Paper piece

materials. Tracing Paper, Masking Tape, Acrylic Paint, Print roller

presentedStuck to the wall left to hang to the floor

aboutPieces of A4 tracing paper attached together using small ripped pieces of masking tape. Piece was placed on the floor with black acrylic rolled over it. Texture built up from the residual marks on the flooring- retracing footsteps, movement, history, memory, ageing themes. 

2. Found Material

materials. Metal Tray

aboutOld found material, metal tray which was found in Grandparents garage. Piece is old, rusted, dirty showing themes of memory, aging, deterioration. 

3. 35mm Film Slide

materials. Cardboard film slide frame, celluloid 35mm film

presentedStuck together and placed in the found material tray (2). Leaning against the material and centered. 

aboutFound 35mm slide which has been deconstructed. The cardboard frame and the 35mm celluloid both have been buried allowing mold and deterioration to occur on both materials.
